Beginnings - Joe morris

Joe Morris joins TJ Morris (trading as Home Bargains) and plays a key role in shaping the company's logistics operations. He decides to invest in automation and software technologies to automate the supply chain, reducing dependency on labor markets and driving efficiencies and accurate order fulfillment.
2004

The First

Joe Morris project manages the build of one of the UK's first major automation projects, the Home Bargains automated warehouse in Liverpool, using a solution provided by SSI Schaefer.
2005

Keys to success

Joe Morris makes the strategic decision to conduct service and maintenance in-house at TJ Morris. Believing continuous improvement is key to success, he felt owning the service and maintenance was crucial.
2014

Growth Begins

Joe Morris project manages the design, build, and delivery of the second highly automated site at TJ Morris, in Amesbury (Wiltshire, UK), delivered by Swisslog.
2015

Industry Experience - Meet Jonathan

Jonathan Lane joins TJ Morris as Engineering Director. Working closely with Joe Morris, Jonathan leverages his FMCG sector experience to elevate asset lifecycle management standards at TJ Morris.
2016

Unique Software

Jonathan Lane starts the development of a unique software tool that bridges the gap between personnel and automated machinery, reducing the need for a SCADA control room and providing engineers with mobile access to necessary information for safe and effective repairs. This solution also captures data to drive continuous improvement.
2018

Building on what works

Joe and Jonathan further develop the software solution to manage building maintenance, cleaning, operations tasks, H&S, training, and contractor management across both distribution and retail sites.
2020

Best Practises

Jonathan Lane, working closely with his engineering team, develops the ARMS Quality Management System to define best practice asset lifecycle management at TJ Morris.
2022

Focus and further growth

Joe and Jonathan form ARMS Innovations. Jonathan leaves TJ Morris after 8 enjoyable years to manage and grow ARMS Innovations. The company secures its first major customers in the UK, employs 40 people worldwide, and achieves a £1.5m turnover.

The Hands on Chairman

Joe Morris joins ARMS Innovations full-time as Chairman, remaining hands-on. The company secures its first major engineering service customer, grows to 140 employees worldwide, and reaches a £6.5m turnover.

With a background of 20 years in Robotics and 22 years in running retail operations and logistics, Joe has unique experience and knowledge of setting up and running large, automated supply chain operations for retailers. 

Jonathan Lane

CEO / Founder

An engineering expert with a track record in manufacturing, automation, and facilities, John brings a wealth of experience and knowledge in the setup and management of large, internal service support teams and external field-based contractors. He is the creator of ARMS Software Solutions and ARMS QMS.
